PROCEDURE FOR MEMBERSHIP:

  • All the students and the faculty members should not wear a white coat inside the central library.
  • All the students and the faculty members of our institution is the member of the central library.
  • The library membership form will be issued in the central library, members should be submitted the membership form to the chief librarian along with 2 stamp size photographs.
  • The newly joined faculty members can get their library cards from library by showing yours appointment orders.
  • Students and the faculty members are requested to make the maximum use of the library and reading room facilities provided by the College.
  • The members are responsible for the Library Cards issued to them. In case of loss of library Card, the reader must report immediately to the Chief Librarian by paying Rs.100/-for each duplicate library ticket / smart card.
  • The library premises should be used for academic and research purposes only.
  • All the visitors are requested to maintain silence inside the library building and adhere strictly to its rules and regulations. Chatting, eating, sleeping and using mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside the library premises. Any irregularities found will be brought to the notice of the Librarian for necessary action. The Librarian is authorized with the power to terminate the membership of any visitor if he/she is found guilty of such misconduct.

CIRCULATION SECTION POLICY:

  • Borrowing facilities are given only to the member of the library against Borrower’s Ticket /smart card.
  • Faculty members of PMCHRI can borrow four books at a time (Loan period one month)
  • Students of PMCHRI can borrow two books at a time (Loan period 14 days)
  • New Books will be issued after technical processing has been completed.
  • Reference books, rare books, unbounded periodicals may not be issued.
  • The members shall be allowed to refer books in the Library only after showing their ID card / smart card to the Librarian.
  • No faculty/student can take two books of the same title / author.
  • The librarian has the power to refuse the issue of a book to particular member and also recall any book without assigning any reason thereby.
  • PMCHRI Library follows an open-access system of books and materials taken from a shelf should not be re-shelved by the readers.

RENEWAL OF ISSUED BOOKS:           

  • Documents borrowed should be presented physically for renewal by the borrower.
  • Documents will be renewed only if there is no reservation.
  • In case of reserved document, same will be allotted to the borrower who is foremost on the reservation list.

OVER DUES CHARGES:

  • Books must be return on or before the due date otherwise the borrower will be charged (overdue) Rs. 5/- day/book. Absence or illness are not accepted  as an excuses for exemption from paying overdue charges
  • All the members should return the books borrowed from the library before they proceed for a long period of leave. Borrowers will be held responsible for any damage or mutilation of the document noticed at the time of returning.
  • Final year students are advised to return the library tickets on or before the valid date and get NO DUE CERTIFICATE from library.
  • If a member does not pay the library dues for a long period, the privilege of borrowing books will be suspended till he/she pays the requisite amount.
  • Reminder will be sent to the borrower for the overdue books by the librarian.

LOSS OF BOOK /DAMAGE:        

  • In case any book is lost or damaged by the member, the member shall replace the book or pay the double the cost of the missed book with Rs. 100/- for processing fees.
  • If one book lost in the volumes of the set, the reader has to replace the whole set.

DIGITAL LIBRARY

  • Digital library of Panimalar Medical College Hospital and Research Institute has a good collection of E- books / E-journals for the members. Internet browsing and E- services are provided by the library for its users.
  • Online chatting, playing games, browsing for social networking sites is strictly prohibited.
  • Changing the settings and display of the computers in the library is not allowed. Readers are insisted to not to remove or unplug computer cable connections, network cables and other peripherals/ accessories in the library.
  • The Electronic Resources available in PMCHRI library are governed by license agreements. Each user is responsible for ensuring that he/she uses these products only for non-commercial, educational, scholarly or research use without systematically downloading and distributing the portions of information.
  • Users are advised to make use of these facilities only to support their academic and research activities.
  • Librarian is providing with rights to stop extending this facility to a person found misusing, apart from initiating action as per the rules provided by the PMCHRI Authorities.
  • The library provides printing facilities to its readers on all working days. If the purpose of printing is found as personal work, Rs. 1/- per page will be charged. ( please send the documents to the following email ID : pmchrilibrary@gmail.com)

REPROGRAPHY SERVICES

  • The library provides photocopying facilities to its members on all working days. PMCHRI staff members are requested to fill up the photocopy requisition form and get it signed by their HOD’s. If the purpose of photo copy is found as personal work, Rs. 1/- per page will be charged.
  • Some items in the library cannot be copied because of copyright laws and due to its poor condition.

GENERAL RULES

  • All the members are requested to make their entry inside the Central Library by using “Gate Entry System”.
  • All personal belongings (except money) should be kept in the safety deposit room of the library.
  • Library Working Hours: Monday to Saturday :  00 AM to 8.00 PM Sundays 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The library timings can be changed whenever there is a necessity (during the examination days).
  • The Inter-Library Loan facilities shall be provided to the users on behalf of the demand through the document delivery service of DELNET, New Delhi & British council.
  • The Readers should not deface, mark, cut, or mutilate the reading material in any manner. Readers will be solely responsible for any damage caused by them to the documents.
  • Silence should be followed in the library and reading room
  • Use of mobile phone inside the Library is strictly prohibited.
